Botox Francisco Injection

With all the hype and fuss over people getting Botox injections for everything from a sagging chin to a droopy eyelid, one has to wonder just what it is that Botox does and how it works. Before this can be done we need to go back a little in time to when botox was originally discovered.

Botox may be famous now for it’s use in cosmetic surgery but it wasn’t always that way, as when it was first being studied by scientists in the 1960’s it was for methods to treat neurological problems in people. A few decades later after much research, the FDA granted permission for it to be used medically and the first patients to make use of the drug were those with eye conditions that included people with eyes that were not aligned correctly and those that suffered from uncontrollable blinking called blepharospasm.

By the new millennium botox had been approved for a number of other conditions including one where severe neck and shoulder contractions were causing discomfort to a number of people. However, it was the discovery of the effect botox had on reducing frown lines that finally won over the FDA who agreed that it could be used in cosmetic procedures in 2002.

Botox Francisco Injection...

Botox can have this affect if it is injected into areas of the forehead that control the muscles there that cause frowning and after a number of treatments the lines start to lessen. The lines will to the casual observer, disappear but the same process can now be used on laughter lines around the eyes and forehead lines as well.

Botox injections are a purified and watered down version of the sometimes fatal Botulinum poison and because of the purification process can be used in cosmetic surgery. Of course we all like to laugh and obviously use our faces for other gestures but the muscles controlling this are the cause of the line we see and obviously, botox injections can stop this.

Botox is able to take back for a temporary period all those years of lines, creases and wrinkles that have formed from the use of our facial muscles; a problem we do not have when we are young. Because botox paralyzes the facial muscles, people who have regular treatment often look as though they are dummies as they cannot smile properly or make other facial gestures fully that we tend to rely on when we communicate.

A person who has undergone this treatment still has enough movement to provide some expressions but they are limited and because most of the wrinkles and creases have all but disappeared, it appears that the person is younger than their true years. Botox treatment is expensive with the average cost of just one Botox injection in the United States ranging from a few hundred dollars to in excess of 1,000 dollars depending on where the injection is used.

Whether there are any long term effects from continued use of botox is still unknown as the treatment is still to new but for those people who do use it, it doesn’t seem to matter.
