Botox Injections For Neck Trauma

The neuro-toxin Clostridium Botulinum which is the bacterium that causes botulism is better known as Botox. Botox is not a permanent cosmetic therapy to deal with age lines and wrinkles but a therapy which requires repeat treatment. People that regularly use Botox do so to remove forehead lines caused by frowning. It is relatively simple procedure and can lead to a clearing of wrinkles and, consequently, a more youthful appearance. The whole procedure can be completed in around a quarter of an hour. So if you want to look younger, especially in the areas around your eyes and your mouth, Botox is your best route as results are seen just a few days following the procedure.

Botox injections work by paralysing the muscles that cause wrinkles and lines, like horizontal and vertical lines on the forehead or crow’s feet near the eyes for instance, so there will be less movement. Because Botox is not permanent and works by only temporarily paralysing muscles, repeat injections are often needed in fact multiple treatments are recommended for optimal results. Swelling and some numbness are quite common after treatment because Botox is a natural protein but it doesn’t normally take long to recover.

Using Botox to reduce aging wrinkles is one of the safest methods with very few side effects. Any discomfort felt using this procedure is minimal and only lasts a very short while as ice is used before and after treatment. Botox treatments have other uses to for those who suffer with acne or facial scarring.

Lines around the eyes often called laughter lines or crows feet plus others around the mouth and forehead disappear when botox is injected because it’s paralysing action relaxes the muscles in these areas. Many film and television stars regularly have a Botox treatment but it should be remembered that plastic surgery isn’t just about personal vanity. Men today are equally as vain as women but prefer those treatments that are less invasive and Botox is one of those along with chemical peels, collagen injections and microdermabrasion.

The uses of Botox aren’t just limited to cosmetic treatments either as it has other useful medical properties. It would be unfair not to include the results of studies which show that Botox can help in reducing the effects of migraine headaches, profuse sweating problems and those that suffer muscle spasms around the eyes and neck. You should be warned though that it should not be used when a woman is pregnant or breast feeding. One downside to the use of Botox is the more frequent the treatments become, the more the muscles injected tend to atrophy and as a consequence it is longer before a further treatment can be given. In the USA this year over one million Botox treatments will be performed, making it the number one aesthetic cosmetic procedure in America.
