Side Effects From Botox
Botox is the brand name of a neuro-toxin produced from the same bacterium that causes botulism also known as Clostridium Botulinum. Botox is effective at removing lines we associate with the aging process but is not a permanent solution as it requires repeat treatments from time to time. The most popular use of Botox is to reduce frown and forehead lines. As a cosmetic procedure it is a fairly simple one but the results can be amazing as the reduction of facial lines makes the recipient look younger. The whole procedure is quick in addition to simple and most recipients have the treatment completed in less than 15 minutes, depending on the areas treated. The youthful appearance with aging lines around the eyes, mouth and forehead reduced takes only a couple of days after treatment.
When Botox is injected into the muscles that cause wrinkles around the eyes and forehead for instance, it paralyses them and stops almost all movement. As the paralysis is only temporary, repeat treatments of Botox are required periodically and often multiple injections to see the best results. Fortunately, it doesn’t take long to recover from a Botox treatment although some numbness, swelling and bruising may be present.
There are very few side effects to this procedure and is one of the safest available for reduction of wrinkles. Any discomfort felt using this procedure is minimal and only lasts a very short while as ice is used before and after treatment. The uses of Botox injections also go so far as assist those individuals who unfortunately suffer with facial scarring, acne or to help soften aging skin.
Side Effects From Botox...
Laughter lines and other aging signs around the face gradually fade after Botox is injected because it relaxes the muscles. Botox is often in the news courtesy of many celebrities that have regular treatments but cosmetic surgery procedures do have other benefits other than those used primarily for reasons of vanity. Most of the popular cosmetic treatments today such as Botox, injecting collagen, microdermabrasion and chemical peels are those favoured by men as they are not as invasive.
Botox is a prescription drug and not just a purified protein used in cosmetic surgery. Studies have also suggested that Botox is effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes. However, it’s wise to be cautious because it is also contraindicated in pregnancy and breast feeding. One unfortunate downside is the muscle recovery time becomes longer the more frequently you have a Botox treatment. Botox has become so popular now that in the United States this year over one million treatments will be prescribed.
